Shea Cote is a young photographer, loves the grain on film, hates the pixels on digital.
Shea started shooting photography with a Polaroid Spectra camera picked up at a goodwill for 50 cents when he was 16.
Shea eventually moved on to working in the darkroom with pinhole cameras he made and broken rangefinders he patched up.
He opposed the digital crisp clean and shiny look by grabbing the lowest mega pixel digitals he could get his hands on and shot with them; ultimately proving the camera does not make the photographer. The photographer makes the picture, one does not make a 1.4 tv lens on a 14 mega pixel full frame 12 point focus 64000 iso camera, one does not create the subject, a true photographer photographs the present in their individual interpretation.
To say Shea Cote is a traditional photographer is to say art is not an opinion.
From the official saddest city in America, St. Petersburg, Florida, to New York City, New York and beyond, Shea Cote will stand to represent true emotional interpretation through a lens.. or without one, or with a broken one, or whatever.
